Mobility & Innovation as technology partner for the TOMARK PROTON hydrogen VTOL aircraft project
Why hydrogen is going into aviation
Vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft systems are undergoing a rapid technological transformation. While smaller electric platforms with limited range and payload capacity dominate today, new applications in mobility, security or special operations require more powerful solutions with longer flight autonomy and reliable operation in harsh environments.
It is these requirements that open the way for hydrogen electric propulsion as an energy solution that allows combining high energy density with emission-free operation.
The TOMARK PROTON H2 VTOL aircraft project , developed under the IPCEI initiative, is one of the first projects of its kind in the world. It is a manned VTOL aircraft that moves hydrogen technology from concept towards real-world aeronautical applications. Mobility & Innovation is the technology partner for hydrogen propulsion and system integration in this project.
Our task: system integration of hydrogen electric propulsion for a prototype aircraft
TOMARK PROTON has chosen Mobility & Innovation as a partner for the development and integration of hydrogen electric propulsion into the prototype VTOL platform. The project represents a natural extension of our long-standing know-how in the field of emission-free propulsion for transport into the aviation environment.
Today, we are applying our experience from the development of hydrogen buses, hydrogen tractors and special emission-free solutions in a completely new domain – aeronautics, where the demands on safety, weight and reliability are extremely high.
What is our responsibility in the project?
Within the framework of the H2 project, VTOL aircraft are provided by Mobility & Innovation:
– design of the high-pressure hydrogen system, including storage tanks, lines and safety architecture,
– development of a hydrogen supply system for the fuel cell – as a complete in-house solution,
– Integration of the fuel cell into the H2 VTOL prototype platform,
– development of technical documentation, calculation preparation and safety analysis,
– testing of components and the entire system, including hardware validation and operational scenarios,
– comprehensive system integration that ensures the compatibility of all subsystems into a single functional unit.
This project confirms once again that system integration is not just a service for Mobility & Innovation, but a core engineering competence. We combine technology, safety, legislative requirements and real operational needs into solutions that make sense in practice.
Advanced technology developed in Slovakia
The H2 VTOL project is proof that cutting-edge technological solutions with global potential are being created in Slovakia. For Mobility & Innovation, this is a natural extension of our portfolio – we are now translating our experience with high-pressure hydrogen systems, fuel cells, battery modules and safety standards into a new aerospace platform.
It is also a practical demonstration of our approach: the future of mobility is not about one technology, but about the right solution for a specific application – from ground to air.
Conclusion: a partnership that pushes the boundaries of zero-emission mobility
The cooperation with TOMARK PROTON confirms that Mobility & Innovation can deliver tailor-made drives even where the technological and safety requirements are extremely high – in aerospace technology.
We are delighted to be part of a project that has the potential to influence the direction of modern aviation and the development of emission-free technologies on a global scale.
If you are interested in customized emission-free drives or system integration for special applications, our team will be happy to present you with opportunities for cooperation.
